JA Solar signs strategic cooperation agreement with Philippine company
JA Solar and AP Power Forge Strategic Partnership to Accelerate Southeast Asia’s Clean Energy Transition
JA Solar, a leading global manufacturer of high-performance photovoltaic products, has officially entered a new phase of cooperation with the Philippines’ prominent renewable energy developer, Advance Prime Power Corporation (AP Power). The two companies signed a strategic cooperation agreement at JA Solar’s headquarters in Beijing, marking a significant milestone in their shared mission to expand clean energy deployment across Southeast Asia.
This new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) builds upon a successful supply agreement reached earlier this year. Under the terms of the MOU, JA Solar and AP Power have outlined a two-year strategic roadmap to scale up solar photovoltaic (PV) project capacity in the Philippines and neighboring markets. The agreement reflects both parties’ commitment to accelerating the region’s energy transition and increasing the share of renewable power in the energy mix.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior executives from both companies, highlighting the importance of the collaboration. JA Solar brings to the partnership its extensive global R&D resources, advanced manufacturing capabilities, and a strong track record of delivering high-efficiency PV products to markets worldwide. AP Power contributes deep local expertise, project development experience, and an understanding of the regulatory and economic dynamics shaping the Philippines’ renewable sector.
“The Philippines is one of JA Solar’s core markets,” stated Jin Junhui, Chairwoman of JA Solar. “Over more than a decade of localized service and trusted partnerships, we have built a strong market presence here. This agreement deepens our regional engagement, and together with AP Power, we aim to deliver high-quality PV solutions that support Southeast Asia’s clean energy transformation and long-term sustainability goals.”
AP Power CEO Shen Jian emphasized the strategic value of the alliance, noting that JA Solar’s proven product reliability and innovation will play a critical role in achieving the company’s clean energy objectives. “JA Solar’s performance and innovation capabilities are essential for us to meet our renewable energy targets in the Philippines. This partnership combines complementary strengths, enabling us to create new clean energy capacity and establish a sustainable model for regional cooperation in Southeast Asia.”
The collaboration comes at a time when Southeast Asia faces increasing pressure to balance growing energy demand with the urgent need to decarbonize. The Philippines, in particular, has significant untapped solar potential, given its high solar irradiance levels and rising demand for stable, affordable power. By leveraging JA Solar’s cutting-edge PV technologies and AP Power’s local market reach, the partnership is well-positioned to develop projects that are both technically advanced and commercially viable.
Both companies have agreed to work closely in identifying and advancing high-impact solar PV projects. The focus will be on solutions that deliver long-term environmental benefits, reduce carbon emissions, and strengthen regional energy security.
This agreement not only reinforces JA Solar’s strategic position in the Asia-Pacific market but also sends a clear signal that international collaboration will be a key driver in accelerating the adoption of renewable energy across emerging economies. With the combined capabilities of JA Solar and AP Power, the partnership aims to set a benchmark for sustainable growth and innovation in the Southeast Asian clean energy sector.
